Haikyu - Volume 7

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Done with volume 7! ✅

Sugawara entering the game is a breath of fresh air, he’s so likable. It’s a bit sad he doesn’t get to play as much. I love how he’s able to execute all those plays successfully minutes after entering the court. I guess he wasn’t just waiting but actually thinking while in the warm-up area.

That final play before Suga is switched out, the receive by the captain, the toss, and the spike. All from the third years. Felt good.

Kageyama is just that good unfortunately for Suga. When they switch he regains focus (and happiness, funny to see his face!). That ace serve, nice!

The panel in which Kageyama starts communicating with Tsukishima has more power in Japanese or the anime than in Catalan. In Japanese it seems he uses the same ending word as Tanaka does, but in the Catalan translation that was lost. I guess it’s not easy to translate but it loses all the power/context.

The short backstory on annoying young Kageyama makes a lot of sense, Oikawa is only human and we can now see where this rivalry comes from.

It would have been nice to end the volume on chapter 60, with Karasuno winning the set but I guess the volume would have been too thin.

Overall it seems Seijo is far superior technically, or better said… more all-rounded. All the players are good. It was action-packed, with no time to breath, and great volume overall. I miss full-size page panels as we’ve seen in other volumes, those were awesome but can’t complain for the good art we’ve had in this one
